Wild Geese
(poem by Mary Oliver,

OTHER WORSHIP SONGS

You don’t have to be good
You don’t have to walk on your knees
You don’t have to repent
You don’t have to please

You don’t have to be tall or small
You don’t have to be anything at all
You don’t have to look down
You don’t have to fall

Just let the soft animal of your body (3X)
Love what it loves

Tell me your despair
And I will tell you mine
And still the world goes on and on and on...

Meanwhile the sun and rain
are moving ‘cross the landscapes
Meanwhile the wild geese are heading home again
Harsh and exciting,
can you hear the geese announcing
Your place right beside them, in the family of things

So whoever you are
And no matter how lonely you feel
The world offers itself
To your imagination

You don’t have to be good
You don’t have to be believe
The world will call you like wild geese
Heading home again

Just let the soft animal of your body (3X)
Love what it loves
